Located in the most iconic part of Central London, with St. James’ Park, 10 Downing Street and Buckingham Palace on its doorstep, One Great George Street in Westminster was the ideal setting for Abbi and Tom’s unforgettable wedding and I was so pleased to be invited to create an amazing London Wedding Video. Abbi and Tom’s journey has been pretty remarkable.
They met on a blind date that was set up by Abbi’s mum and took place two days before she sadly passed away from terminal cancer. When Tom proposed to Abbi it was fitting that he did it in Spain, the same country where Abbi’s mum’s ashes are scattered along the shore.
With successful careers and a vibrant social life, it made perfect sense for this dynamic couple to get married in Westminster at one of London’s finest wedding venues.
One Great George Street is the home of the Institution of Civil Engineers so you can expect something spectacular.
Grade II-listed with an unending expanse of marble columns, high ceilings, classic period architecture and dazzling decor, this was an incredible place to capture on film and a sublime space for Abbi and Tom’s black-tie wedding.
Filming began amidst some of the most quintessential sights and sounds that make Central London so great, including the inescapable London rain!
The venue has a lovely Bridal dressing room where you can ensure that everything is in place before you make you spectacular descent down the Main Hall’s phenomenal grand staircase.
There are an huge number of breathtaking rooms available for your use on the day, topped off by the venue’s astounding Great Hall.
Abbi and Tom held their wedding ceremony in one of the magnificent state rooms which was packed with family and friends followed by a reception in the Great Hall.
George Street’s State Rooms complement the splendour of the Great Hall with matching beauty on a slightly smaller scale.
The Great Hall boasts a 13m high, ornately decorated gold-leaf ceiling, marble columns, oak flooring, crystal chandeliers and exquisite plaster work.
Flooded with light from its floor-to-ceiling windows, it is an amazing space yet the State Rooms are equally impressive.

One Great George Street’s seven State Rooms offer a little more intimacy than the Great Hall, with the same level of elaborately decorated ceilings,
ornate decor, statement chandeliers, plenty of light and French walnut wood panelling on the walls.
All with suitably grand names such as the Brunel Room or the Smeaton Room to really set the tone.
The State Room was a sublime space to film in and emotions were high as Abbi made her way down the aisle to the accompaniment of a string quartet, looking absolutely incredible.
One Great George Street’s exceptional surroundings made for some absolutely brilliant moments, such as the confetti drop from underneath the glass-domed rotunda at the top of the staircase, to the bridal party and their friends and family gathered below.
Despite the rain, we managed to nip outside and get some great shots of Abbi and Thomas at street level, capturing some of the most glorious London architecture and features that surround the venue.
There was even an iconic red telephone box, seemingly put there just for us.
Then it was on to Abbi and Tom’s awesome reception in The Great Hall which was exquisitely decorated and a sight to behold.
Kitted out with state of the art equipment and filled with the warmth of the couple’s loved ones, it was no surprise that this was the scene of a notably good time.

The groom’s speech and the heaving dancefloor as everyone got down to the live band. Needless to say, the food was fantastic and we partied on till the early hours.
It has to be said that the wedding team at Great George Street are absolutely incredible.
Despite the grand surroundings they do weddings of any size here and go above and beyond for every aspect of your day.
Maximum capacities are 220 for the full day or up to 400 for just the ceremony.
Abbi and Tom only used the State Rooms for their ceremony, but they can be used for both your ceremony and dining, although numbers are limited to 150 or less.
Additionally, regardless of the length of your guest list, the entire space will be exclusively yours for the day.

This was an absolutely brilliant day in the most spectacular surroundings. I knew almost immediately that this London Wedding Video will be terrific.
Filming in the heart of Westminster, in one of the most famous parts of London with the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace on either side was unbelievable.
It created the most amazing backdrop to the event and London’s unmistakable energy definitely contributed to the great atmosphere on the day.
The central location and infinite made it really easy for family and friends to get to the venue.
There are obviously an unending choice of gorgeous hotels and Airbnbs close by.
With the venue sitting right in the middle of all of London’s most sought-after attractions, there will probable be many guests who decide to stay on a few a days and enjoy the many things to do and see in the area.
In fact, with St James’ Park next door, you could even have your wedding photos taken in St. James’ Park although you’ll have to apply for a licence first.

You could even do like Tom and take advantage of the many local bars and coffee shops close by and kick things off with a quick glass of something special with your squad before the ceremony begins. If you want a stylish location for an unforgettable black tie wedding in London, One Great George Street is pretty hard to beat. Where else can you exchange your vows with the Queen of England sipping her tea a mere couple of minutes away?
